Recently the Science department at my school carried out a review of our current curriculum and as a lot of schools do these days, we decided to use the NGSSs as a reference point. Being an MYP school, I felt that the cross-cutting concepts had a lot of overlap with our key and related concepts, and the science and engineering practices were covered by criterion B and C assessments as well as various ATLs. To me this meant that the most value for our department would be found in comparing our curriculum to the core disciplinary ideas, as the content of our curriculum has drifted somewhat from our previous set of standards.
Since I never miss a chance to make a spreadsheet, I took a couple of hours over the weekend to put together this auditing tool. It's pretty self explanatory, you just click the check boxes to match units with CDIs, then switch to the 'Charts' tab to see visual representations of the number of CDIs covered. NGSS Auditing Tool
